The Society of Petroleum Engineers KNUST Chapter recorded a successful engagement with fresh students during the recently concluded Freshers’ Orientation programme. The orientation exercise was strategically carried out across three key venues on campus, Kumapley Auditorium, VSLA, and the Petroleum Building, to ensure maximum reach and effective interaction with students from different academic backgrounds.

Over the course of the exercise, the SPE KNUST Chapter reached more than 600 fresh students, introducing them to the Society, its objectives, and the opportunities it offers for professional development. The sessions focused on educating students about the role of SPE in bridging the gap between academia and industry, while highlighting the importance of early involvement in professional societies. The engagement was highly interactive, with students showing strong interest through questions and discussions on career pathways, industry exposure, leadership opportunities, and technical development within the petroleum and energy sector.
